Real Madrid must target reinforcements in a number of positions next summer. And it looks like one of their big targets might be the full-back areas. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have looked particularly weak there and there have been no real standout performers in those roles. Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy have both failed to impress.
On the other hand, the back up options have not been much better either. Neither Alvaro Odriozola nor Lucas Vazquez appear to be solutions at right-back. In fact, 33-year-old Nacho Fernandez might be the best there at Real Madrid right now. And David Alaba’s form has dropped after the World Cup break as well.
Real Madrid have taken a positive step when it comes to reinforcing at left-back, as Fran Garcia will return to the club next summer from Rayo Vallecano. They need to strengthen on the opposite flank as well though and appear to have one of Manchester United’s targets in their sights.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Jeremie Frimpong has been one of the great sensations of Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen team. And the Dutchman is believed to be a potential option for Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are interested in Manchester United target
Frimpong is one of the brightest young prospects in the Bundesliga right now. His quality is undeniable and the Dutchman seems to be on the verge of a big move.
He has been heavily linked with Manchester United in recent times. Chelsea were also rumoured to be a possible destination before they signed Malo Gusto. And now, it looks like Real Madrid are in the race to sign Frimpong as well.
Despite all of his qualities, there is one big question mark over Frimpong though. And it is the defensive side of his game. That is not a phase where he shines and hopefully, he will get better going back as he gains some more experience.
