Chelsea superstar open to signing for Real Madrid

Real Madrid have gotten the chance to have a close look at Chelsea’s players in recent years. Both teams have met in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages in the previous two seasons, and are going to face each other in the quarter-finals this time around too. They have come out on top once each and this is the rubber match.

One of the players that has been a standout in their previous meetings is Reece James. The Englishman is arguably the best right-back on the planet on his day.

Thus, it should not come as a surprise that Real Madrid have been linked with him in recent times. Right-back is an area of the pitch where the club need to find a long-term solution quickly. Dani Carvajal, Nacho Fernandez and Lucas Vazquez are all past 30 while Alvaro Odriozola has barely featured and is expected to leave in the summer. So, someone like James would be an incredible addition.

As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), James would be delighted to play for Real Madrid if given the chance to do so. But he wants to continue on at Chelsea for now.

The belief is that he has been earmarked as a future captain of the club as well. Thus, Chelsea are not expected to be keen to let one of their best players leave anytime soon.

The ceiling of James is incredible and he can be one of the best players in the world. But one issue that he has been faced is injuries. The Englishman has spent several spells out on the sidelines and that will be a worry for sure.
