Real Madrid have had a lot of worries this season. But the biggest of their problems might be their injury record. A number of their key first-team players have had to spend time on the sidelines and that has prevented them from building up any sort of momentum or picking up some consistent form.

One of the players who has a reputation for struggling with fitness issues is Ferland Mendy. And unfortunately for the Frenchman, things are not looking up at the moment.

Mendy had already spent quite some time out on the sidelines due to an injury. It was only recently that he had made his return to action. And now, it looks like the Frenchman has been dealt a setback and is set for another spell out of the team.

As reported by The Athletic, Mendy is facing a further spell on the sidelines after a latest setback with injury. Further tests will be carried out but the muscular injury is likely to keep him out of action for a month.

Mendy’s performances had received plenty of criticism before he was injured. And questions have been raised about his long-term future at the club for some time now.

Not only is his injury record a concern for the club but it does not feel like he might be the right fit for an attacking brand of football either. Real Madrid are already set to bring in Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano in the summer and have been linked with plenty of other left-backs in recent weeks and months as well.

Let’s see if the club end up making further additions at left-back in the near future or not. But things are not looking good for Mendy’s future at Santiago Bernabeu.
