Real Madrid must target €240 million player in 2024

Real Madrid have been pretty quiet in the transfer market in recent years. Once known for the Galactico signings, the club have not splashed out in a while. The only two notable signings that they have made are that of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni. The likes of David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger have arrived on free transfers.

As the Premier League clubs start to completely dominate the transfer market, sooner or later, Real Madrid must make some big moves as well in order to prevent their squad from stagnating. The club have been linked with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Josko Gvardiol and several others.

But if there is one Galactico signing that Real Madrid make over the next few years, it has to be that of Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker arrived at Manchester City just last summer but there has already been some speculation about his future.

Rumours have suggested that a release clause as high as €240 million could become active in Haaland’s deal in the summer of 2024. And if that is the case, Real Madrid should definitely consider a move.

There are two big reasons for Real Madrid to pursue a move for Haaland. The first is their need to bring in a striker sooner or later, in order to replace Karim Benzema.

Benzema is expected to extend his deal by another season. But we have already seen his form on a downward path this season, as he has struggled to remain fit for any consistent length of time. The Frenchman is 35 years of age and it is time for Los Blancos to start looking towards the future.

Secondly, Haaland might be the most impactful player of his generation. The rate at which he finds the back of the net is unbelievable and he is still just 22 years of age. If Real Madrid miss out on the opportunity to sign him, they might end up regretting it forever.
