Chelsea and Real Madrid have been involved in a couple of epic UEFA Champions League knockout ties in recent seasons, with both teams coming out on top once each. And that will be settled this time around, with the two set to face off in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite competition once again.

That might not be the last that the two teams see of each other though. It looks like Real Madrid have their eyes on one of Chelsea’s best players as a potential signing.

Right-back is an area of need for Real Madrid right now. Dani Carvajal’s form and fitness have been on a downturn for some time now. On the other hand, neither Lucas Vazquez nor Nacho Fernandez are long-term solutions in the position. Alvaro Odriozola has rarely been given minutes as well. Thus, it should not come as a surprise that they have been linked with Reece James lately.

As reported by Football Insider, Chelsea are preparing to face a huge transfer bid from Real Madrid for James this summer.

James is one of the best young talents in football right now. Real Madrid will know of his qualities very well, as the Chelsea star was a standout against them in previous meetings.

James has the potential to be the best right-back in the world in the not too distant future. Thus, signing someone like him would have to be considered as a major coup on the part of Real Madrid.

It would be difficult to convince Chelsea to part ways with James though. It was not too long ago that the Englishman signed a contract extension with the Blues. On top of that, it is believed that the right-back has been earmarked as a future captain of the Premier League club.
