Real Madrid have quite a few players in their team right now who have uncertain futures at Santiago Bernabeu. The squad is in need of a bit of an overhaul over the coming transfer windows. In order to bring new faces in, Los Blancos might have to part ways with a few already at the club though.
One person who could leave in the near future is Ferland Mendy. On one hand, there has been a lot of criticism about his performances this season.
On the other hand, the Frenchman has been struggling to remain fit. It was only recently that he had returned from a spell on the sidelines due to injury. But then, he picked up another injury recently and rumours estimate that he could be out for another month. It is safe to say that that is not ideal, especially for Real Madrid, who have a clear lack of depth.
The club are set to bring in Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano in the summer. And they have been linked with other left-backs as well. Could that lead to the departure of Mendy? There seems to be high profile interest in his signature though.
Manchester City interested in €60 million Real Madrid player
Mendy is believed to be rated at a transfer fee around €60 million. And as reported by Fichajes, Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United have eyes on the Frenchman.
Many consider Mendy as one of the best defensive left-backs in the game. But when it comes to the attacking side of his game, there have always been big question marks.
It remains to be seen if any of those clubs end up making a move for Mendy in the future or not. At 27 years of age, he is in his prime. But his series of injuries would raise the eyebrows of any potential suitor.
