Real Madrid need to strengthen their ranks all over the pitch. That has become pretty clear over the course of this season, as injuries and fatigue have taken a massive toll on the side. After an incredible start to the campaign, their form has completely fallen off. And no matter how this season ends, one would be hoping that the club bring in reinforcements in the summer.

One area that is in particular need of reinforcements is right-back. Dani Carvajal has struggled for both form and fitness in recent times, and his recent performances have been a worry. Lucas Vazquez and Alvaro Odriozola do not seem like solutions either. Real Madrid’s best option in the position might be Nacho Fernandez, who is 33 years of age and has never been a nailed on starter for the club. It goes without saying that the situation is not ideal.

Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid have been linked with several right-backs in recent times. One of them is Chelsea’s Reece James. And it looks like Los Blancos might be ready to splash out to sign the Englishman.

As reported by Football Insider, Real Madrid are willing to offer as much as £90 million for James but Chelsea are feeling confident about him staying at the club.

James is one of the best players at Chelsea right now. And if his development goes according to plan and he is able to avoid injuries, then he has all the tools to be the best right-back in the world.

It is not hard to see why Real Madrid might be interested in signing James. But it will be very difficult to get a deal done for him.

Rumours have suggested that Chelsea view him as a future captain of the club. And as a result, they surely won’t be keen to part ways with him anytime soon.
