Chelsea and Real Madrid are set to meet each other in the last 8 of the UEFA Champions League this season. That is a big game for both clubs for sure. Of course, they will be familiar with each other already, having met in the knockout stages of the competition in the previous two campaigns.

When the tie was made, Real Madrid were considered as the heavy favourites to go through as Chelsea were in terrible form under the management of Graham Potter. But since then, the manager has been shown the exit door.

Now, it remains to be seen what kind of form Chelsea will be in going into the tie against Real Madrid. On the other hand, they could hand a blow to Los Blancos, as they search for a new manager.

It is no secret that Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid is uncertain. The club have struggled for form in recent times and the La Liga title race looks to be over for all intents and purposes already. If the club end up going trophyless then it is likely that the Italian would be shown the exit door.

If Ancelotti does leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, then the club would be in need of a new manager. The problem is, Chelsea are looking for one as well, and appear to have similar targets.

Julian Nagelsmann has been heavily linked with the Chelsea job over the past couple of days. Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be a target as well.

Of course, both are rumoured to be managerial targets for Real Madrid, in case Ancelotti does leave. As a result, if Chelsea do end up appointing either of the two, then that would be a blow for Los Blancos’ plans.
