Real Madrid have faced a lot of problems this season. The biggest of them have been injuries. When the majority of the squad is fit, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have done well. But unfortunately, that has been a rare instance. Several of the club’s key players have had to spend time on the sidelines and continue to do so.

Of course, that is not ideal, especially when you consider that Real Madrid already have an issue with a lack of depth. They have been handed some good news before the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie against Barcelona though.

Antonio Rudiger missed the recent game against Real Valladolid at the weekend. But the German defender is back in the squad, and will be available for selection for the upcoming game against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Here’s what the Real Madrid squad looks like for the trip to Barcelona for the all-important second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals:

Of course, Rudiger has faced a lot of criticism through the course of the season. And it is true that he has failed to rediscover the form that he showcased during his last 18 months at Chelsea under the management of Thomas Tuchel.

At the same time, one has to admit that Rudiger has improved as the season has progressed. And he has been a solid contributor to the side in recent months. Thus, his availability for the El Clasico is a boost for Los Blancos, whether he ends up starting or not.

Of course, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have a mountain to climb. They have lost three straight games against Barcelona this season and have to be considered as heavy underdogs going into the match. That could be an advantage as well though.
