Real Madrid and Liverpool have been involved in some classic contest on the pitch in recent times, including a couple of Champions League finals and knock out stage games. And it looks like the two European giants could be involved in some transfer talks with each other in the summer as well.

Liverpool need to strengthen in the middle of the park. And it looks like a Real Madrid player is in their sights, who they were linked with last summer as well before he made the switch to Santiago Bernabeu.

It is none other than Aurelien Tchouameni. The Frenchman had made a glorious start to life at Real Madrid and filled the gap left behind by Casemiro in the team. But things seem to have gone south for him after the World Cup and he is now playing a secondary role in Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

As reported by El Nacional, Jurgen Klopp has not forgotten about Tchouameni. Liverpool are willing to submit an offer of €80 million.

Tchouameni had looked like an incredible signing initially. But he has struggled to reproduce his early form after the World Cup break.

It must be remembered that he did miss a penalty kick in the World Cup final against Argentina. That might have had an effect on him.

Tchouameni is too big of a talent to give up on just based on a few months of bad form though. He had looked absolutely brilliant early on in the season and there is no reason that he could not rediscover that kind of form in the future.

The French international is also just 23 years of age. Thus, even if Liverpool end up making a significant transfer bid for him in the summer, Real Madrid should not consider letting him go.
