Real Madrid has been the home to some of the biggest names in the history of football over the years. And the club have also been linked with the two best young talents in the game right now, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. Many expect the two to have a rivalry similar to that of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
It remains to be seen how their careers turn out. Rumours have suggested that Real Madrid are keeping an eye on both their situations though.
Mbappe currently plays for PSG. There have been suggestions that he could look to leave the club when his current deal runs out in the summer of 2024, even though there is an option to extend it for another year.
On the other hand, Haaland joined Manchester City just this season but there have been rumours that a release clause will become active in his contract with the club in the summer of 2024. Is it possible that Real Madrid could try to sign both in the same transfer window?
Real Madrid told to sign Mbappe over Haaland
As reported by AS, when Gianfranco Zola was asked which of the two he would go for if he was in the shoes of Florentino Perez, the Chelsea legend said:
"“I think Mbappe could be better for how you play in the Spanish league. There perhaps it is more necessary an attacker who plays, not so much that he focuses only on the goal. More to intervene in action than in defining. I think Kylian would adapt more to Madrid and the Spanish championship. But they are two very important players.”"
It is safe to say that either Mbappe or Haaland would be a fantastic signing for any club in the world right now. But which of the two would be better for Real Madrid?
Zola thinks that Mbappe would be the better of the two for Real Madrid. But one also has to remember that the club already have Vinicius Junior, who plays a similar role. On the other hand, Karim Benzema is 35 years of age and as a result, Los Blancos need to bring in a long-term successor sooner or later.
