If there’s one thing that Real Madrid fans can agree on, it’s that the squad is in definite need of reinforcements for next season. Depth has been an issue for this team for a while. And with the number of expiring contracts and overall age of some players, the squad needs to be strengthened in multiple areas.
With Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Dani Ceballos yet to agree new contracts, Real Madrid could be lacking in depth next season when it comes to playmakers in the middle of the park.
Amidst all this, it looks like a Spanish international has caught the eye of Real Madrid. It is none other than Dani Olmo.
As reported by Relevo, Olmo is on Real Madrid’s radar. The club have begun to ask about the situation of the Spanish international. At the moment there have only been preliminary contacts.
Real Madrid make contact about Barcelona transfer target
Olmo came up through the ranks at La Masia, so his name has always been linked with a potential return to Barcelona. However, there have been suggestions that a move to Real Madrid would interest the Spanish international as well.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Olmo has scored 20 goals and provided 24 assists in 115 appearances for RB Leipzig till now. His current contract at the club runs out in the summer of 2024.
Olmo’s main position is as a number 10, although he can play on both wings with equal ease as well. The Spaniard is someone who could significantly improve the Real Madrid team due to his versatility, especially with the 4-3-3 formation that Carlo Ancelotti uses a lot.
At only 24 years of age, Olmo already has a ton of experience at the top level in Europe, in both the Champions League and the Europa League. He has been a key part of the Spanish national team as well. Interestingly, Barcelona are believed to be interested in signing him too.
