It is no secret that Real Madrid need to add to their squad in the summer. The club are lacking in depth in several positions across the pitch. One of them is full-back. At right-back, it is clear that Dani Carvajal is no longer the player that he once was. The Spaniard’s form has been a major worry. On the other hand, none of Lucas Vazquez, Nacho Fernandez and Alvaro Odriozola are long-term solutions either.

On the other hand, at left-back, the club have Ferland Mendy. The Frenchman has struggled badly with injuries and questions have been raised about his performances when he has been on the pitch.

The club are set to sign Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano in the summer. But on the other hand, there have been suggestions that they could be ready to let Mendy go. If that turned out to be the case, they will need another option at left-back.

Considering the situation, it would make sense for Real Madrid to sign someone who can play in both full-back positions with equal ease. Perhaps someone like Joao Cancelo?

As reported by Fichajes, Cancelo would not mind a change at the end of the season. Real Madrid could appear on the scene to sit down to negotiate with Manchester City a transfer that could take around €60 million.

Not too long ago, Cancelo was considered one of the best full-backs on the planet and someone who had changed how the role was viewed. But surprisingly, he lost his place in the Manchester City team after the World Cup.

He made a loan move to Bayern Munich in January but that has not worked out particularly well for him either. As a result, a summer transfer for Cancelo makes sense. Will Real Madrid try to sign him? Time shall tell.
