Real Madrid put in a superb performance to defeat Chelsea in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie. The result was not surprising at all, considering the form that the Blues have been in this season. Still, you have to show up for the big games, and Carlo Ancelotti’s team certainly did that. In fact, they might be a bit disappointed that the scoreline was not more one-sided in their favour.

One of the players who stood out on the night was Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian has been in superb form this season and he continued to prove decisive in the big moments.

Vinicius was up against Reece James. The Brazilian had struggled against the Chelsea right-back in the past but on this occasion, he certainly got the better of him. He is just in that kind of form at the moment though.

On current form, there is an argument to be made that Vinicius is the best left winger on the planet. And Barcelona hero, Thierry Henry, seems to agree with that.

Henry makes incredible claim about Real Madrid star

As reported by GOAL, when Jamie Carragher asked Henry about whether Vinicius is the best left-winger in the world during the CBS Sports post-match show, the Frenchman said:

"“Yes. At the moment, yes. You have guys that are doing okay at Arsenal in the Premier League. Martinelli is coming.”"

Henry further went on:

"“This is what I am saying with Vinícius Jr, he pushes the ball to pass Reece James. He knows that, at that moment, he is going to lose that race. Okay, ‘I am going to lose it, but then I push again’. This is what I am saying, he thinks about what he is doing. He makes you fall. He makes you stumble. Pushes the ball again. He stops you. Squares you, then pushes the ball again. That’s the difference. He is a thinker. When I see Vinicius Jr on the ball, I can feel it, he’s cooking.”"

Vinicius has certainly been brilliant for Real Madrid over the past couple of seasons. The transformation that he has undergone since the arrival of Ancelotti as manager has been incredible to say the very least.

For years, Vinicius was considered as a superb talent struggling to fulfil his potential. His dribbling was always brilliant but he left a lot to be desired in front of goal. The Brazilian has clearly worked on that though and right now is one of the most reliable sources of goals and assists that Real Madrid have.
