Real Madrid are in need of signing a striker this summer. On one hand, Karim Benzema has struggled to remain fit this season. But the club have no real back up for the Frenchman. Mariano Diaz has not featured much and it would be a surprise if he does not leave at the end of the campaign. On the other hand, Alvaro is just 18 years of age and it might be a bit too early for him to be the second-choice centre-forward for Los Blancos.
Thus, Real Madrid could do with another striker. Of course, they could go after a short-term solution for just a season in hopes that they are able to sign Erling Haaland in the summer of 2024.
On the other hand, they could start the work of finding a long-term successor to Benzema. And one player that they have been linked with frequently in recent times is Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus.
As reported by AS, Real Madrid remains attentive to the situation of Vlahovic. But Juventus director, Francesco Calvo, said about the player’s future:
"“We have no doubts about Dusan as a crucial player for our present and future project despite the links and stories that are being published. We see how hard he works every day in training, that’s why we have confidence in the present and the future, we are optimistic.”"
Real Madrid remain interested in €81 million striker
It was just last year that Juventus signed Vlahovic from Fiorentina for a transfer fee believed to be around €81 million including add-ons. Till now, the Serbian striker has had an up and down time in Turin though.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 20 goals and provided 6 assists in 53 appearances for Juventus till now.
Those are decent stats but not great for a striker who came in amid such high expectations. But at the same time, one has to recognise that Massimiliano Allegri’s style of football might not be the best fit for a player like Vlahovic. The Serbian could do a lot better at a club like Real Madrid, where he will get plenty of chances to put the ball into the back of the net.
