Eduardo Camavinga has emerged as a star for Real Madrid after the World Cup. There is no denying that the French midfielder struggled for playing time in the first half of the campaign and some rumours had even broken out that he could be sent out on loan, or even be included as part of a deal to sign Jude Bellingham next summer. The 20-year-old has made a remarkable comeback since then though.
On current form, Camavinga has to be one of the first names on Carlo Ancelotti’s team sheet. He has been playing a lot of his football at left-back with Ferland Mendy out injured, but he has gotten his chances in the middle of the park as well.
The kind of performances Camavinga has been putting up, especially against teams like Chelsea and Barcelona, is impressive to say the least. And one can expect him to remain at Real Madrid for years to come if he can continue to performing at this level.
One of the rumours a few months back was that Camavinga could be headed to Arsenal on loan. The Premier League club have of course had plenty of transfer dealings in recent years. But in this scenario, it looks like there was no truth to the links.
Real Madrid star’s agent comments on Arsenal rumour
As reported by GOAL, Camavinga’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, said when asked if there was really the possibility of a loan to Arsenal in the winter:
"“That was rubbish, it’s something that wasn’t going to happen. He has never thought about playing for another team and Real Madrid would not have let him leave. He’s going to be one of Real Madrid’s stars in the future, so why leave. It was all rubbish.”"
Camavinga played his best football last season off the bench, as an impact substitute. But now, he is establishing himself as a starter for Real Madrid and doing a great job at that.
That is clear progression on the part of the Frenchman. Also, he is performing at this level at just 20 years of age. Thus, one can only wonder how good he will be in his prime.
