Real Madrid have been linked with quite a few Chelsea players in recent times. One name that pops up regularly is Reece James. The Englishman is one of the most highly-rated right-backs in the world, which is a position of need for Los Blancos. Thus, there interest in him would be understandable.

Mason Mount is another player whose situation they are believed to be keeping an eye on. The Chelsea midfielder could be headed for the exit door in the summer. Liverpool are also believed to be interested in him.

James and Mount are two brilliant young talents, and it is easy to see why Real Madrid might be interested in them. On the other hand, they are being linked with another Chelsea player, who not many would have seen coming.

As reported by Fichajes, Real Madrid do not take their eye off Ruben Loftus-Cheek, to adopt a rotation profile next season. His contract runs out in the summer of 2024.

Following the change in ownership and after seeing players like Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave as free agents, it is believed that Chelsea are not keen on any contracts run into its final twelve months. On the other hand, rumours have also suggested that the club need to let some players go in the summer after splashing out so heavily over the past two windows.

Thus, Loftus-Cheek seems to be someone who could be on his way out of the club. He came through the youth ranks at Chelsea and was expected to develop into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

Unfortunately, that never happened and he has mostly played a rotational role at Chelsea. Thus, the links with Real Madrid do come as a surprise and it remains to be seen if the club actually end up making a move for Loftus-Cheek or not.
