Real Madrid got themselves a 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to book their place in the UEFA Champions League semi finals, thanks to a brace from Rodrygo. It was a 4-0 aggregate win for Los Blancos. But the match was not easy for them at all. In fact, the Blues had been the much better team in the first half.

Of course, as has been the case with them far too often this season, they lacked quality in front of goal. They lacked either the final pass or the finish.

Their best chance of the game fell at the feet of Marc Cucurella. But the former Barcelona player made the mistake of taking a touch and by the time he shot at goal, Thibaut Courtois had positioned himself well and pulled off a very good save.

If Chelsea had scored that goal, the match could have looked very differently. And Courtois deserves immense credit for the save that he pulled off. The home supporters would not have been left happy with his gesture after that though.

Courtois turned towards the Chelsea fans and kissed the Real Madrid badge, shortly after pulling off the brilliant save. Of course, the Belgian goalkeeper used to play for the Blues before his move to Santiago Bernabeu.

The circumstances surrounding his Chelsea departure were controversial and as a result, their fans are not too fond of him to say the least. The Belgian goalkeeper was booed throughout the game and one cannot really blame him for kissing the Real Madrid badge in front of his former supporters.

Of course, Real Madrid’s focus will turn now turn towards the Champions League semi-finals. They are also in the Copa del Rey final. On the other hand, the season is pretty much over for Chelsea, as they have nothing left to play for, unless they end up getting caught up in a relegation struggle, which is not impossible.
