Real Madrid booked their place in the Champions League semi-finals once again, with a 4-0 aggregate win over Chelsea. The team and the coaching staff deserve the world of credit for that, because this has not been an easy season. They came into it with a clear lack of depth and have had to deal with a series of injuries as well. And they are still in the running for a double, having also made the Copa del Rey final.

While Real Madrid might have gotten past Chelsea, as was expected, they did not come out of the game unscathed. Injuries continue to chase Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

It looks like David Alaba has picked up another issue. On the other hand, Eder Militao is suspended for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final. This could present an issue to Real Madrid when they come up against either Manchester City or Bayern Munich, which is expected to be a much tougher tie.

As reported by MARCA, Ancelotti said while speaking about Alaba on Movistar:

"“He had a problem, his hamstring strained and we made the change at the end of the first half.”"

Alaba was having a good game before he had to be taken off at the break. One can only hope that the issue is not serious and he is back to full fitness soon enough.

With Militao set to miss the first leg of the semi-final, Alaba’s presence and experience is expected to be very important on the day. The two legs will be played in May, so there is still a bit of time for the Austrian to recover from his issue.

Alaba has dealt with a few injuries this season and one would be hoping that this is not a sign of things to come. Real Madrid will be waiting to find out their semi-final opponents, although with Manchester City having a 3-0 lead from the first leg, it’s expected to be Pep Guardiola’s side.
