Real Madrid have struggled with injury problems throughout the course of the season and it is commendable how well they have done even while dealing with them. The latest player to pick up an issue was David Alaba. He had a good first half performance against Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge before being taken off at the break.

Alaba has faced his injury problems this season and the good thing is that this does not look like a very serious issue. Real Madrid will certainly need him with so many important games coming up.

The La Liga title race might be as good as over but they have the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna. And will be taking on Manchester City in the Champions League semi-finals as well.

As tweeted out by El Chiringuito TV, Alaba will be out for two weeks. The objective is to be available to play the Copa del Rey final.

There had been question marks over the form of Alaba but the Austrian has been quite good in recent weeks. It is no co-incidence that Real Madrid have improved at the back as the season has progressed.

Thus, Alaba’s presence will be vital, especially in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals against Manchester City. Regular starter, Eder Militao, is set to miss that game due to a suspension.

It remains to be seen if Alaba is fit in time to feature in the upcoming Copa del Rey final against Osasuna. The early signs are positive though.

The problem with Real Madrid is that they do not have a lot of depth, but at centre-back, they do have a few options. Militao, Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Nacho are all reliable options for Los Blancos.
