Manchester United legend makes Mikel Arteta to Real Madrid claim
Carlo Ancelotti’s position at Real Madrid looks a lot more secure now than it did just a few weeks ago. The club are in the Copa del Rey final and the Champions League semi-finals. And while La Liga might possibly be out of reach, a double is still on. If the Italian manager delivers silverware, one would think that he would remain at Santiago Bernabeu.
It is still possible though that the club could finish trophyless. And we all know that it does not take long for moods and opinions to change around Santiago Bernabeu. On the other hand, Ancelotti is believed to be the Brazil national team’s top target to be their next manager.
As a result, Real Madrid should keep their eyes on potential replacements for Ancelotti, in the scenario that he does depart the club in the summer. And one manager who is rumoured to be on the top of their list is Mikel Arteta.
Arteta has done a superb job at Arsenal and could possibly lead them to their first Premier League title in almost two decades this season. Thus, it is not hard to see why Real Madrid might be interested in him. On the other hand, it looks like the Spaniard might have an eye on the Santiago Bernabeu job as well.
Manchester United legend makes Arteta to Real Madrid claim
As reported by AS, Rio Ferdinand said on his YouTube show Vibe with Five:
"“I heard something… I heard that Real Madrid (are interested) and when they come knocking your players will be coachless.“I heard Ancelotti, Don Carlo, the eyebrow, he might be getting off, and that Arteta is looking to go to Real Madrid. That’s the rumour on the streets. The streets are talking.”"
It is worth pointing out that Arteta came through the youth ranks at Barcelona. Of course, him ending up as the Real Madrid manager would be interesting.
Nothing is set in stone yet though. It all depends on what the future holds for Ancelotti. At the same time, the club have been linked with other candidates like Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino, Raul and others, in the scenario that the Italian manager did depart this summer.
