This summer transfer window is going to be an interesting one for Real Madrid. It is clear that the club need to bring in reinforcements in several positions across the pitch and they have been linked with plenty of big names as well. It remains to be seen how many of them they end up making a move for.

Their top target is believed to be Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund. But there is plenty of other clubs interested in Borussia Dortmund midfielder as well.

It is not hard to see why. The Englishman is just 19 years of age and already amongst the best in the world in his position. And if he can continue to develop at this rate then he has the potential to be the best midfielder of his generation. That is the kind of talent that Real Madrid need in the middle of the park for the next decade-and-a-half to come.

There seems to be some good news in the race to sign him as well. As tweeted out by Carlos Carpio:

"“The only Real Madrid target for that position is Jude Bellingham. And each time he is closer to signing.”"

Signing someone like Bellingham would be a major coup for Real Madrid. He is good enough to come in and immediately make an impact in the first-team.

But his signing would be mostly about the future. Both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are in the twilight of their careers, but the expectation is that they will continue at Real Madrid. Playing with those two all-time greats would provide invaluable experience to Bellingham as well.

Nothing is set in stone yet though. Manchester City are rumoured to be another club very much in the race to sign him. And thus, Real Madrid will do well to sign Bellingham ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side. Of course, it is possible that he could end up staying at Borussia Dortmund for one more season as well.
