Real Madrid might have been struggling in the middle of the campaign, but they have got things back on track in recent weeks. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are in the Copa del Rey final, where they will take on Osasuna, and in the Champions League semi-finals, where they will face Manchester City. Thus, a double is still on the cards, and they might have an outside chance in La Liga as well, with Barcelona struggling for form lately and dropping points.
One of the players who deserves immense credit for stepping up for Real Madrid in recent months is Eduardo Camavinga. The Frenchman has been superb after the World Cup break.
It is easy to forget that he was struggling for playing time in the first half of the campaign and there were even suggestions to send Camavinga out on loan, in order to play regular football. He has looked like a player transformed after the World Cup though and is one of Real Madrid’s most important players right now.
As a result, it looks like he might be handed a contract extension by the club soon. And the Frenchman has certainly earned it.
Real Madrid readying new contract with €1 billion release clause
As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid will prepare a new contract proposal for Camavinga in the next months. The plan is to include a higher release clause, which is to be discussed soon and it could be €1 billion.
Camavinga has been linked with plenty of Premier League clubs in recent months and it is not hard to understand why, considering the form that he has been in. But suggestions have been that he sees his long-term future at Real Madrid.
If Camavinga can continue to perform like this and develop further, then he could be a regular fixture in the Real Madrid line up for more than a decade to come. After all, he is just 20 years of age at the moment.
