Real Madrid could need a shake up of their forward line in the summer. The expectation is that Karm Benzema will stay on for another season, but on the other hand, Mariano Diaz looks set to leave when his current deal runs out. That would leave Alvaro, who is only 18 years of age and made a handful of appearances at the senior level, as the only back up option to the Ballon d’Or holder.
Thus, it would make sense for Real Madrid to go after another striker in the summer. And it looks like a youngster from Serie A, who has earned comparisons with Erling Haaland in the past, has caught their eye.
The player in question is Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish international striker currently plays for Atalanta.
As reported by Fichajes, there have been contacts from Real Madrid with Atalanta to know the situation of Hojlund. Many other teams are interested in him though.
Real Madrid make contact for €35 million-rated striker
While Hojlund might have earned comparisons with Haaland, his scoring record for Atalanta is not as prolific yet. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in 28 appearances for the Italian club till now.
That is solid though, especially for a striker who is just 20 years of age. On the other hand, his record is fantastic while playing for the Denmark national team.
As a result, Hojlund is certainly one to watch out for the future and ticks a lot of boxes that Real Madrid look for, when signing a player. Thus, let’s see if they end up making a move for him in the summer or not. The youngster is believed to be rated at a transfer fee around €35 million. On the other hand, plenty of other clubs are believed to be keeping an eye on him as well.
