The coaching situation at Real Madrid is still up in the air. The mood around the club might be positive right now, after making the Copa del Rey final and the Champions League semi-final but it does not take long for things to change around Santiago Bernabeu. Carlo Ancelotti is someone who will know that very well.

In his first stint as Real Madrid manager, Ancelotti was shown the exit door just a year after he had guided them to the illusive La Decima. And if the club go trophyless this time around, there is a good chance that the Italian’s time in the Santiago Bernabeu hot seat could come to an end once again.

In the scenario that Ancelotti departs Real Madrid at the end of the campaign, it would be interesting to see who the club end up replacing him with. Names like Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino have been brought up.

Another name that was mentioned for a while is Raul, the club legend currently managing the Castilla team. But those rumours have faded away since then and it looks like the Spaniard could be on his way out in the summer.

As tweeted out by Jose Manuel Moreno, this will be the last season of Raul as manager of Castilla. Next year, he will begin his stage in professional football.

Of course, it is very unlikely that Raul would be handed the first-team job next season. It will be interesting to see if he stays, if he is offered a role as part of Ancelotti’s staff.

The expectation seems to be that he will be leaving the club in search of a managerial role somewhere else. He has already been linked with teams like Leeds United and Schalke in the past.
