Real Madrid could definitely do with another striker at this point of time. Karim Benzema might still be a decisive player but he has struggled to remain fit for any consistent length of time throughout the course of this season. On the other hand, there is no real back up for him either. Mariano Diaz is expected to leave in the summer and has barely featured at all. On the other hand, Alvaro is just 18 years of age.

Thus, it would make sense for Real Madrid to sign another striker in the not too distant future. And they have been linked with a surprise name in that regard.

As reported by Fichajes, Real Madrid have an eye on Romelu Lukaku. The idea is to take advantage of the difficult situation of both Chelsea and Inter Milan to get the Belgian at an affordable fee.

Lukaku is currently out on loan at Inter Milan, just a season after Chelsea had signed him for a transfer fee around €115 million. But he has not had the greatest time back in Italy either, and it remains to be seen if he will extend his stay there beyond this campaign.

The links with Lukaku will come as a surprise to many without doubt. After all, his reputation has taken a big blow over the past couple of seasons.

Other than his form, his fitness has been a worry as well. He has been dealing with quite a few injuries lately. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists in 26 appearances for Inter Milan this season.

Thus, Real Madrid should think twice before making a move for the Belgian striker. Even though, he seems to have rediscovered some of his form as of late.
