Real Madrid’s midfield is expected to undergo serious changes in the future. Luka Modric and Toni Kroos look set to extend their deals with the club, but at the end of the day, both seem to be in the twilight of their respective careers. Thus, sooner or later, the club will need to find replacements for the two legends in the middle of the park.

Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Jude Bellingham in recent times. And the Borussia Dortmund star could be a great addition to this team. At 19 years of age, he is already amongst the best midfielders in the world.

There seems to be another midfielder in the sights of Real Madrid though. Someone who has enjoyed a lot of success at both club and international level in recent times.

As reported by Fichajes (via The Hard Tackle), Nicolo Barella is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti wants the club to sign the Inter Milan star.

There have been suggestions that Inter Milan could be willing to let Barella leave if they receive an offer of around €60 million. Considering the modern day transfer market, that would be an understandable figure.

Barella has enjoyed quite a bit of success and won a fair bit of silverware during his time at Inter Milan. He also was part of the Italy national team that won UEFA EURO 2020 and was key to their unexpected triumph.

He is also 26 years of age. Thus, if Real Madrid do end up signing Barella, they will be getting an experienced and proven midfielder at the very top level, who is entering his prime. It has the potential to be a great signing. Of course, other clubs are interested as well.
