Real Madrid have concentrated on signing the best young talent from around the world in recent years. Recently, they were linked with a move for Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga, who is enjoying his breakthrough campaign this time. And while those rumours have slowed down quite a bit in recent weeks, it looks like another Spanish wonderkid has caught their attention, who might have just had his breakout moment.

Javi Guerra has played very little first-team football for Valencia till now. But he might have already made a season-defining contribution.

Guerra was brought on in the 89th minute of Valencia’s game against Real Valladolid and scored in extra-time to hand them all three points. This could turn out to be a very important strike, as the club look to avoid relegation.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, with a contract running until the summer of 2024, Barcelona, Real Madrid and several Premier League teams have been following Guerra for some time. The negotiation to renew with Valencia is open and underway but the player is already believed to have turned down a first proposal a few months ago.

Real Madrid and Barcelona both interested in signing Spanish wonderkid

There is no doubt that Guerra is a big talent. It is no surprise that top clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid are keeping an eye on his situation at Valencia.

Admittedly, he has not played a lot of senior football till now. And it will be interesting to see how he adjusts to this level. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Guerra has made 4 appearances and featured for 56 minutes in total.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Guerra. Of course, there is the possibility that he could end up staying at Valencia by agreeing a new contract with the club despite the outside interest in his signature.
