Real Madrid have had plenty of shortcomings in recent years. One area where they have excelled though is their ability to identify top quality young talents and developing them into first-team stars at the Santiago Bernabeu. We have seen this happen time after time, and it is one of the biggest reasons behind their recent success.

Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde and now, Rodrygo, the list continues to grow. And the club deserve immense credit for how well they have done in this department.

Rodrygo’s growth this season has been a point of discussion in recent times. The Brazilian winger has never really been a nailed on starter for Real Madrid. But now, he is starting to get to that level.

He has always had the ability to rise to the occasion in the big moments. The goals against Manchester City and Chelsea come to mind immediately, as the Brazilian has played a big part in the club’s European successes in recent times. But lately, it looks like he is finding the consistency required to be a starter for Los Blancos.

Vazquez was full of praise for Rodrygo recently. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the long-time Real Madrid player said:

"“Benzema and Rodrygo don’t surprise us because we know them and we see them every day training. They are two world-class players. Benzema is the Ballon d’Or and Rodrygo is having spectacular growth. We are very happy for his moment.”"

Rodrygo is currently having his best season in a Real Madrid shirt. As reported by Transfermarkt, he has scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 49 appearances and 3201 minutes of football in the ongoing campaign.

Vinicius is already amongst the best players in the world. And Rodrygo has every tool required to reach those heights as well. Recently, he has taken some big steps in that direction and hopefully, will continue to do so moving forward. It is important to remember that he is still just 22 years of age and has plenty of time to improve further.
