Real Madrid’s squad could undergo some changes in the summer. It is quite clear that the club could do with a few more options, as their depth leaves a lot to be desired. It is a credit to the players and the coaching staff that they are still in the running for a Champions League and Copa del Rey double this season. But there is certainly room for improvement.

One area where Real Madrid are set to improve in the summer is left-back. The club will be bringing in Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano.

Garcia came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid but was not able to nail down a spot in the first-team. He would leave for Rayo Vallecano and has proven himself as one of the top left-backs in La Liga. As a result, he has earned himself a return to Santiago Bernabeu and can be a solid addition to this side.

On the other hand, the future of Ferland Mendy is uncertain. The Frenchman has been a key part of the team over the years but an exit in the summer cannot be ruled out.

Fabrizio Romano said while speaking on his YouTube channel that in case there is a good proposal for Mendy, Real Madrid would be prepared to listen and let him leave.

Mendy is one of the best left-backs in the world when it comes to the defensive side of his game. But going forward, there have always been question marks over his ability.

The biggest discussion point surrounding him might be his fitness issues. Mendy has spent several spells out on the sidelines this season and struggled to get on the pitch in the second half of the campaign. In his absence, Eduardo Camavinga has been brilliant at left-back while the club have Garcia coming in.
