This summer could be an interesting one for Real Madrid and their squad could undergo some changes. On one hand, it is quite clear that they need to bring in reinforcements as they lack depth in several positions across the pitch. On the other hand, there are quite a few players who have not been involved enough and barely made a contribution.

One player who falls under that category is Alvaro Odriozola. When he was signed by Real Madrid, he was one of the brightest young prospects in Spanish football.

Things have not worked out for him at Real Madrid though. And he has had a couple of loan spells as well, away at Bayern Munich and Fiorentina. This summer though, it could be time for a permanent exit.

As reported by AS, after two failed attempts to return home to San Sebastian, it could be third time lucky for Odriozola. If Real Sociedad decide to bring him back, this could be their chance.

Odriozola came through the youth ranks at Real Sociedad and it is there that he found most of his success at the senior level as well. As a result, it is not hard to see why returning to his hometown club makes a lot of sense for the Spaniard.

Of course, other clubs are expected to be in the race to sign the right-back as well. And it is likely that Real Madrid would look to get some kind of transfer fee out of his exit, rather than let him leave for nothing in the near future. Odriozola’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2024.

Thus, does a return to Real Madrid lie in Odriozola’s future? Only time shall tell. Let’s see how things play out.
