Real Madrid might still be in the running for a Champions League and Copa del Rey double, but their form in La Liga has been terrible lately to say the least. As things stand, they now find themselves 14 points behind Barcelona and if Atletico Madrid win their game in hand, then Carlo Ancelotti’s side will slip down to third.
Those are not the standards at Real Madrid. Every time you pull on a Royal White jersey, you are expected to win. But that has not been happening enough in the league in recent times.
Their recent setback came at the hands of Real Sociedad, who handed Real Madrid a 2-0 defeat. And this result comes days before their Copa del Rey final against Osasuna.
One player whose error contributed to the loss against Real Sociedad was Eder Militao. And Ancelotti has sent a clear message to the defender after the match. As reported by The Athletic, the Real Madrid manager said about him:
"“I agree, he has to wake up. And has to do soon.”"

It was a massive error from Militao which allowed Real Sociedad to open the scoring. The defender tried to play a back pass to Thibaut Courtois but misplaced it, which basically allowed Takefusa Kubo to tap the ball into an open net against his former side.
Militao’s form has been inconsistent in recent times. There are days when he looks like one of the best defenders in the world. But then, he has errors like the one against Real Sociedad in his game as well.
Militao simply cannot repeat such kind of mistakes, especially with the Copa del Rey final and the Champions League semi finals coming up. Of course, it is worth pointing out that the Brazilian defender will miss the first leg against Manchester City through suspension.
