Rumours have broken out recently that Jude Bellingham is closing in on a summer move to Real Madrid. Clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United were also believed to be interested in the Borussia Dortmund star, but it looks like Los Blancos are set to come out on top, as is often the case when they really push for a player.
Signing someone like Bellingham has the potential to be an era-defining move for Real Madrid. The Englishman has all the tools required to be the best midfielder of his generation.
At just 19 years of age, he has captained Borussia Dortmund, proven himself at the highest level for both club and country, and might already be amongst the best in the world in his position. Thus, it is nor hard to see why Real Madrid might be ready to splash out for his signature.
Borussia Dortmund manager, Edin Terzic, has given his take on the rumours linking Bellingham to Real Madrid. As reported by Four Four Two, he said:
"“Now the news came from Spain, before that it came from England – I think before that it even came from France at one point.“These are issues that we put in the context of Jude Bellingham – last year it was Erling, the year before it was Jadon. We’ve had a lot of experience with that over the last few years.“And how I perceive him: Jude comes here every day and gives everything to become German champion at the end. I haven’t even heard from him that he’s involved with another club. We are much more concerned with how we can make him and the team better.“That’s the only topic I currently have with him. The rest are topics that have no place in the dressing room or the trainer’s office. All we’re concerned with right now is making sure we have something really nice to hold in our hands at the end of the season.”"
Borussia Dortmund manager gives his take on the Bellingham to Real Madrid rumour
Of course, Borussia Dortmund cannot afford to lose their focus at this point of time. They are still in running for the Bundesliga title this season and are just a single point behind Bayern Munich in the table right now.
They will get plenty of time to think about the future of Bellingham in the summer. Looking at the situation right now though, Real Madrid do look like the big favourites to land the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
Of course, they will need to agree a transfer fee with Borussia Dortmund for Bellingham and that might not be the simplest task. There have been suggestions that the club could look for a figure north of €120 million for their star man.
