Real Madrid find themselves in an interesting position right now. On one hand, most people recognise that there is a clear lack of depth in the current squad which needs to be addressed in the summer. On the other hand though, that has not stopped them from reaching the Copa del Rey final and the Champions League semi-finals.
Thus, it would not be hard to understand why the club might be reluctant to make too many changes. But they must bring in some reinforcements if they are to enjoy continuous success on the pitch.
It looks like Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Jude Bellingham. And that has the potential to be a masterstroke that shapes the next era of the club. They need to strengthen in other areas of the pitch as well.
More arrivals could be dependent on exits though. And one player whose exit, if he does leave, could start a domino effect is Eden Hazard.
Real Madrid could sign €50 million player if Hazard leaves
As reported by MARCA, Real Madrid consider Moussa Diaby as a replacement for Hazard, if the Belgian leaves. It could take a transfer fee close to €50 million to sign the Frenchman though.
Diaby has been one of the standout players in the Bundesliga for a few years now. Also, he is still just 23. As a result, it is easy to see why the Frenchman might have caught the eye of Real Madrid.
Any move seems to be dependent on the future of Hazard though. The Belgian will still have a season left on his contract after this. He has barely played in recent times though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 9 appearances and featured in 331 minutes of football in this campaign.
As a result, Hazard departing Santiago Bernabeu might be the best step for all parties involved. Now, let’s see if that happens.
