With the Copa del Rey now in the bag following their 2-1 win over Osasuna in the final, Real Madrid’s entire focus will now turn towards the Champions League. They have the unenviable task of taking on Manchester City in the semi-final of the competition, with the first leg being at Santiago Bernabeu this midweek.

Manchester City have been in terrific form in recent months. On the other hand, Real Madrid have stumbled on numerous occasions, specifically in the league.

In the Champions League, they look like a completely different team though and there is a special aura around them. That comes with winning the competition on fourteen occasions. Can they make it a fifteenth this time around.

Standing in their way is Manchester City. The two teams had met in the same stage of the competition last season as well. On that occasion, Los Blancos had come out on top in thrilling fashion, with Rodrygo scoring in 90th and 91st minute of the second leg before Karim Benzema won it in extra-time.

Manchester City suffer big injury blow ahead of Real Madrid game

Manchester City have been handed a big injury blow going into the game against Real Madrid. As reported by SPORT, Nathan Ake did not train with the group in the last session of the team before travelling to the Spanish capital.

Thus, it looks like Ake is set to miss the game against Real Madrid. The Dutchman was forced off the pitch at the weekend in Manchester City’s game against Leeds United.

Ake has established himself as an important part of this Manchester City team this season. As a result, if he does indeed miss the game against Real Madrid, then it would come as a major blow for Pep Guardiola’s side without doubt. Let’s see how things turn out.
