Real Madrid might not have a lot of depth in their squad right now, but even then, there are plenty of players at the club who have struggled for playing time. As a result, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them, and quite a few like Mariano Diaz and Alvaro Odriozola are expected to be headed out in the summer.
One player whose future remains uncertain though is Eden Hazard. The Belgian has barely featured this season for Real Madrid.
Yet, he remains one of the highest paid players at the club. And he will have a year left on his current deal after this season.
There has been a lot of speculation around the future of Hazard. There have been rumours that Real Madrid want to find him a new club in the summer and understandably so. On the other hand, it looks like the Belgian might have other plans for himself.
Real Madrid player considering retirement after next season
As reported by Relevo, Hazard is considering hanging up his boots once his contract with Real Madrid ends. It is not 100% decided though. He does not want to close the door to a great offer that allows him to enjoy football again.
In his prime, Hazard was one of the best players in world football. It was clear to see why Real Madrid broke their transfer record to sign him from Chelsea. He was expected to come in and become the face of the club.
It is not hard things turned out though. Hazard struggled with one injury after another, and seems to have lost his spark on the pitch.
Hazard retired from the Belgian national team after the World Cup. And could he do the same at club level, after his Real Madrid contract runs out?
