Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey victory goes a long way in securing Carlo Ancelotti’s future for at least another season. And success in the Champions League would rule out any doubt over the job the Italian has done since returning to Santiago Bernabeu. They face Manchester City in the semi-finals.

The Real Madrid manager has made no secret of his desire to see out the remainder of his current contract. It runs until the summer of 2024.

However, there is always still speculation over Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid. There have also been recent links with the Brazil national team, and rumours that he could leave in the summer to join the Selecao.

There have been many names linked with the Real Madrid job, in case Ancelotti did depart in the summer. And could it lead to the return of one of the club’s former managers?

As tweeted out by Fabrice Hawkins, Mourinho refused Chelsea’s advances. The Portuguese manager could accept two clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Mourinho spent three seasons at Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, winning three trophies in that time, a Copa del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup, and a La Liga title. While that might not look incredibly impressive, one has to remember that he was competing with Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona side and was instrumental in bringing an end to their dominance.

Currently the manager of AS Roma, Mourinho has done an exceptional job at the Italian club, winning the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, as well as competing for a Champions League spot this time around. His run there has gone a long way in restoring his reputation as one of the top managers in Europe, after a disappointing run at Tottenham Hotspur. Could it lead to a return to Santiago Bernabeu?
