Real Madrid have not splashed out in recent times on new signings. One player that they did sign for a big transfer fee last summer was Aurelien Tchouameni. The Frenchman was brought in from AS Monaco for a transfer package that could rise up to €100 million with add-ons. And early on, it had looked like the club had pulled off a masterstroke.
Tchouameni put in some great performances early on in the season and took up Casemiro’s place in the starting XI. Thus, it had looked like Real Madrid had found a vital piece of their midfield for the next decade to come.
Things have not quite worked out that smoothly in recent months though. As the season has progressed, the Frenchman seems to have lost the spark in his performances. Tchouameni is no longer a nailed on starter and has been left on the bench, especially in the big games. As a result, question marks have been raised about his long-term future at the club.
As reported by 90min, Liverpool would be interested in signing Tchouameni, even if they could only bring him in on loan.
Liverpool want to sign €100 million Real Madrid player
It might be way to early to let Tchouameni leave. There is no question about his talent and he should his quality in the Royal White jersey early on this season as well.
He seems to have lost his path a bit since then. But it is worth remembering that he is just 23 years of age and playing his first season outside of France, that too for a club like Real Madrid.
Thus, some stumbles along the road were always to be expected. It is also worth pointing out that Tchouameni missed a penalty in the final of the World Cup, which might have had a negative impact on his performances as well.
