Real Madrid are heading for an interesting summer transfer window. It is very possible that they could end this campaign with a double. The Copa del Rey is already in the bag while they are still in the running for the UEFA Champions League as well. Yet, despite their unquestionable success in cup competitions, it is clear that they need to make some changes to their squad.

The hope is that reinforcements will be made in multiple positions across the pitch. On the other hand, some are expected to leave as well.

One player whose future at the club is in doubt is Ferland Mendy. The Frenchman has struggled with injuries lately. Also, there have been huge question marks over his form.

On top of that, the club are set to bring in Fran Garcia in the summer, after his excellent form for Rayo Vallecano. And Eduardo Camavinga has been an absolute revelation at left-back in recent months as well. That leaves Mendy is an odd situation and many expect him to leave in the summer.

As reported by Cadena SER (via SPORT), Mikel Arteta sees in Mendy a good opportunity to reinforce the left flank. Arsenal are clear that they are not willing to make a large economic investment, but, a €20 million transfer fee would fit within the budget.

Initially, it had looked like Real Madrid wanted a much larger transfer fee to part ways with Mendy. But now, it looks like they might have lowered their demands, as Mendy continues to struggle for fitness.

Arsenal are already very strong at left-back. But there have been suggestions that Kieran Tierney could leave in the summer. If he does indeed depart the club, that would leave a gap in the squad.
