Real Madrid are rumoured to be closing in on the signing of Jude Bellingham. While a deal is not over the line yet, all signs point towards the Englishman ending up at Santiago Bernabeu in the summer. Of course, that would be seen as a major coup for Los Blancos, as he is considered amongst the best midfielders in the world at just 19 years of age.

Unsurprisingly, other clubs were believed to be interested in signing Bellingham as well. One of them was Liverpool although it looks like the Reds have dropped out of the race since then.

On the other hand, it looks like they are looking to sign another one of Real Madrid’s targets. And that player is none other than Gabri Veiga.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Liverpool are leading the transfer chase to sign Celta Vigo starlet Veiga as Jurgen Klopp looks to reshape the Reds’ midfield.

Veiga has been a breakout star in La Liga this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the 20-year-old has scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in 36 appearances all competitions in the ongoing campaign.

There is no doubt that Veiga is a top talent and unsurprisingly, there seems to be plenty of interest in signing him. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have been linked with him. On the other hand, several Premier League clubs appear to be interested as well. It is not hard to see why. He is already performing at a high level and at just 20 years of age, he has a lot of room to get better.

There is believed to be a €40 million release clause in his current deal with Celta Vigo. At the moment, it looks like Liverpool are in pole position to sign him. It remains to be seen if the Reds are able to pull it off.
