Real Madrid need to add to their options in the summer. It has become very clear that Los Blancos do not have the depth right now to compete with the best in Europe, as was evident in their tie against Manchester City, which ended 5-1 on aggregate. Thus, fans are hoping that the club make signings.

One area where they could do with more options is striker. Karim Benzema might be the reigning Ballon d’Or holder but right now, one has to admit that Father Time is catching up to him. At 35 years of age, he has been dealing with a number of fitness issues and has spent several spells out on the sidelines.

On the other hand, the club do not have any real cover for him. Mariano Diaz is also set to leave in the summer. As a result, the club need to bring in another forward.

One player that Real Madrid have been linked with is Roberto Firmino. The Liverpool hero is set to depart Anfield at the end of the season, and will be available as a free agent.

As reported by SPORT, Firmino’s priority would be to sign for Barcelona if the Catalan club take the decisive step by making an offer. He is attracted by the idea of playing Camp Nou.

Firmino has been a key part of the success that Liverpool have enjoyed under the management of Jurgen Klopp. He is someone with the ability to improve those around him, like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Someone like Firmino would be an excellent addition to this Real Madrid team, especially as a free agent. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him, although it looks like the Brazilian prefers a move to Barcelona.
