This summer transfer window is expected to be an interesting one for Real Madrid, as it is quite clear that the club need to bring in reinforcements. They are believed to be closing in on a move for Jude Bellingham and signing the Borussia Dortmund midfielder would be a major coup for any team in the world right now.

More additions are needed though, as the club are lacking depth in several positions across the pitch. One of them is striker.

Mariano Diaz is expected to leave in the summer when his current deal runs out. And while he was not a regular contributor, the club will need to bring in a replacement for him to provide cover for Karim Benzema.

The Frenchman is 35 years of age and his minutes need to be managed at this stage of his career. One player that they have been linked with in recent times is Lucas Beltran of River Plate. But there seems to be a lot of interest in his signature.

As reported by TNT Sports, Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan are all interested in Beltran.

Beltran is 22 years of age and he is starting to find some great form recently, which has earned him the interest of some of the biggest clubs in European football. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 8 goals and provided 1 assist in 20 appearances in the ongoing campaign.

His team, River Plate, also sit at the top of the league in Argentina. That has brought Beltran further under the spotlight.

Now, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid end up making a move for Beltran or not. He is certainly someone who can provide cover for Benzema in the short-term but what would the long-term future hold for him at Santiago Bernabeu?
