News has emerged recently that Real Madrid are closing in on a blockbuster move for Jude Bellingham. That would be a major coup for Los Blancos to say the least and one that could have an effect on their future for more than a decade to come. On the other hand though, it might also restrict them from making other big money signings.

Real Madrid need to add to their depth and make additions all over the pitch this summer. And one of those positions is striker.

The club are already short on options in that area. On top of that, Mariano Diaz looks set to leave in the summer. Karim Benzema clearly needs some cover. At 35 years of age, he is struggling with fitness issues. And the Frenchman’s minutes need to be managed if Real Madrid are to get the best out of him.

The club have been linked with several big name strikers. But it is very possible that they could go for a short-term solution instead. One of the players that they have been linked with is Joselu.

Carlo Ancelotti admits he likes Real Madrid-linked striker

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti said:

"“Joselu? I like him a lot, I also like Aspas and Morata. I like those who score goals.”"

The Italian refused to disclose names of the club’s targets though, as he added:

"“We are working on this. I won’t say names of our targets now.”"

Joselu is someone who has been at Real Madrid in the past but was never able to establish himself in the first-team. Now 33 years of age, he is playing some of his best football, even though Espanyol are struggling to avoid relegation.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Joselu has scored 17 goals and provided 4 assists in 37 appearances this season.

That is an excellent return for the forward and he recently made his international debut for Spain too. All things considered, someone like Joselu could be a great short-term solution to Real Madrid’s depth issues up top.
