Real Madrid have not been the flashiest club in the transfer market in recent years, as they have pretty much moved away from their Galactico policy of the past. Instead, they have focused mostly on signing youngsters with world-class potential and experienced winners when they are available as free agents.

It looks like the club are set to pull off one Galactico-style signing this summer. Even though he is still just 19 years of age and a youngster himself.

It is none other than Jude Bellingham. Even at 19, he is considered amongst the best midfielders on the planet and could one day be standing on the Ballon d’Or podium, if his development goes according to expectations.

Several European giants were believed to be in the race to sign Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. But it looks like a move to Santiago Bernabeu is close to taking place for the Englishman.

Real Madrid fans will be delighted with €100 million transfer news

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, the agreement for a move to Real Madrid is at the final stages for €100 million plus add-ons. Personal terms were agreed with Bellingham in April over a long term deal.

Not only would Real Madrid fans be delighted with signing Bellingham, but also the fact that the transfer fee is going to be €100 million fixed plus add-ons. Just for context, Chelsea signed Enzo Fernandez in January for a €121 million fee. Thus, in the current transfer market, Los Blancos might even be landing a bit of a bargain.

Of course, a deal is not over the line yet but all signs point towards it being only a matter of time. Somebody like Bellingham has the potential to be the future of Real Madrid’s midfield. He is already playing at an incredibly high level and will only improve if he gets to learn from Luka Modric and Toni Kroos next season.
