Real Madrid have been linked with a long list of players in recent times and understandably so. Los Blancos lack in depth all over the pitch and need to make reinforcements in the summer in multiple positions. It remains to be seen how many they are able to pull off. At the moment, the good news is that the signing of Jude Bellingham appears to be getting closer and only seems like a matter of time from here.

At the same time though, it would be a mistake to think that only Bellingham would transform this squad. Signings are needed in more positions.

The defence has not looked the best this season. On top of that, the futures of the likes of Nacho Fernandez, Ferland Mendy and Alvaro Odriozola appear to be up in the air. Thus, the addition of a versatile defender would be a boost for Real Madrid.

It looks like the club have one in their sights as well. As tweeted out by Georg Holzner, Real Madrid and Liverpool have now also asked Benjamin Pavard. Bayern Munich would like to extend with him.

Pavard has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent times as well. Thus, it looks like there will be heavy competition for the signature of Pavard, while Bayern Munich appear to want to keep him at the club as well.

One of the main strengths of Pavard is his versatility. He can play at right-back as well as in the heart of defence. Real Madrid could do with more depth in both those positions.

Bayern Munich clinched the Bundesliga title in dramatic fashion, with Borussia Dortmund wasting their chance to end a decade-long drought. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Pavard. His contract is set to run out in the summer of 2024.
