Karim Benzema has been an amazing player for Real Madrid since his arrival at the club in 2009. The iconic Frenchman has been playing some of his best football over the past few seasons. However, he has recently been dealing with fitness issues. On top of that, there are now suggestions that he could leave this summer for Al-Ittihad.

Even with Benzema, it is evident that the club massively lacks quality depth up front. Mariano Diaz looks set to leave this summer and if the Frenchman does as well, then Alvaro Rodriguez would remain the only recognised number 9 in the squad.

Real Madrid cannot be content with their number 9 situation. The good news is that there are a number of good, reliable strikers available that the club could look to bring in this summer. And it looks like one Premier League legend has caught their eye.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Roberto Firmino is one of the names considered by Real Madrid. The Brazilian will be a free agent this summer.

It has already been confirmed that Firmino will be leaving Liverpool at the end of his contract this summer. And there is been plenty of speculation about where he could end up next, with Real Madrid being a potential landing spot for the Brazilian.

The 31-year-old striker is said to be one of a number forwards that Real Madrid are looking at. But if Benzema does indeed leave, then it would be even more important for the club to go after someone with the experience and proven quality of Firmino.

With the Brazilian being a player in demand, Real Madrid should look to move fast if they want to sign him. Barcelona have been linked with a move for Firmino as well.
