Real Madrid’s plans for the upcoming summer transfer window look set to be completely shaken up. The club already were in need to strengthening all over the pitch and the rumours that they were closing in on the loan signing of Joselu would have been welcomed by the fans. The Spaniard was expected to be cover for Karim Benzema, with Mariano Diaz set to leave. But now, it looks like the Frenchman could be on the way out himself.

Benzema has dealt with a number of fitness issues this season but it is quite clear that he remains Real Madrid’s best sources of goals and a consistent performer in the big games. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 30 goals and provided 6 assists in 42 appearances in the ongoing campaign.

The initial expectation was that Benzema would sign a one-year expectation with Real Madrid and remain for the 2023/24 campaign. But now, it looks like things have taken a twist and his legendary run at Santiago Bernabeu is set to come to an end.

As reported by ESPN, Benzema will leave Real Madrid when his contract expires this month to join Al Ittihad.

Joselu is coming in but he is only expected to play the role of the back up striker for Real Madrid. The club will need to bring in a proven world-class forward in order to replace Benzema.

Of course, nothing is set in stone yet. But all the signs seem to be pointing towards Benzema leaving this summer. On the other hand, names like Roberto Firmino and Harry Kane have been linked with Real Madrid in recent days and weeks.
