The Karim Benzema exit saga has been full of twists and turns. The initial expectation was that the Frenchman was set to extend his contract at Real Madrid for another year and stay on with the club. But then rumours that he had decided to leave the club and join Al-Ittihad after receiving a mega offer from them. Now though, there seems to be another twist.

Benzema is very important to this current Real Madrid team. At 35 years of age, he has faced his fitness issues but he remains their most reliable source of goals. Even in an underwhelming campaign, he has found the back of the net 30 times.

Thus, fans will surely be hoping that Benzema remains at the club. And it looks like their wishes are set to come true.

As reported by MARCA, Benzema is going to stay at Real Madrid. His idea was and is to continue with Los Blancos.

That is spectacular news and comes almost out of the blue. Most fans had given up hope of Benzema staying with all the rumours that have been circulating in the media over the past few days. But it looks like the Frenchman could be set to stay on for another season.

Benzema staying would be a major boost for Real Madrid. The club are believed to be closing on a blockbuster move for Jude Bellingham.

That is expected to take a large chunk out of their summer transfer budget. As a result, the club would have a tough time replacing Benzema with a world-class striker, if the Frenchman ended up leaving.

Of course, sooner or later, Real Madrid will need to find a long-term successor for Benzema. But for the time being, the 35-year-old looks set to continue at Santiago Bernabeu.
