Karim Benzema is set to bring an end to his legendary Real Madrid career this summer. And he capped it off in style with a goal against Athletic Bilbao in his last game for the club. He finishes as the second highest scorer in Los Blancos history, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and the fans can only wish him well in the next stage of his career.
At the same time, Real Madrid are now in need of a first-choice striker, a season earlier than expected. And that might shake up a lot of their plans for the future.
Harry Kane has emerged as the striker, being considered as the perfect replacement for Benzema. At the same time though, Real Madrid would need to make a big investment, if they want to sign the Englishman.
As reported by Cadena SER (via AS), the initial offer from Real Madrid for Kane will be €80 million. The club are are also aware of how Daniel Levy operates and are prepared for weeks of intense negotiations.
Real Madrid ready to make €80 million transfer offer
Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and one could argue that he might improve the team. At 35 years of age, Father Time was starting to catch up with Benzema, as he struggled with plenty of fitness issues in the 2022/23 campaign.
On the other hand, Kane scored 30 Premier League goals in the season, even though his team finished 8th in the table. And with all due respect to Tottenham Hotspur, we have never really seen the Englishman play for a side like Real Madrid, which has the capability to dominate almost every team in Europe.
It is believed that Tottenham Hotspur would look for a €100 million fee for Kane at least. But with Real Madrid providing them the opportunity to not let him go to a direct rival, there might be room for negotiation.
