Real Madrid already were lacking in depth and their squad has been trimmed down further following the announcement of a number of departures this summer. Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz will be leaving at the end of their contracts, while Eden Hazard’s deal was cut short by a year.

As a result, Real Madrid are in urgent need of reinforcements. And they have been linked with plenty of big names in recent times.

Fran Garcia is set to arrive this summer while a loan move for Joselu is close as well. A deal for Jude Bellingham is believed to be advancing to the final stages. Harry Kane is rumoured to be the club’s number one target to replace Benzema. And another player that they have been linked with is Kai Havertz.

Havertz is believed to have been on Real Madrid’s radar for years. And this summer could have been a good opportunity for Los Blancos to make a move. But now, it looks like it might no longer be on the table.

There had been suggestions that all parties were interested in making a move happen. But as reported by MARCA, a move for Havertz has fallen off the radar. The German is currently undergoing renewal talks with Chelsea and Real Madrid have not made any moves for him.

After a remarkable start at Bayer Leverkusen, Havertz was expected to become a superstar of the game. Things have not gone so well for him since joining Chelsea though.

He has been decent but unremarkable. There is no question about his ability though. The Premier League has seemed a bit too fast and intense for him, but he can be a great fit in La Liga. But for the moment, it looks like a move to Real Madrid might not be on the cards. With Chelsea in need of departures, things can change very quickly though.
